The Mercurial Vapor Footballl Boots are produced by Nike. The boots are famous for the feature of lightweight that many players of wingers and strikers favour them much. The cleat is having its 7th version as the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly III, available in Soft Ground and Firm Ground versions. (Differences between SG cleat and FG cleats is that the SG cleat's plate is fitted with 6 removable studs while the FG cleat is of 12 molded blades.)

The first version of Vapor was released in mid-2002, in three colorways of cinder/white/maize, dark obsidian/white/university blue and medium grey/chilli red. The Vapor was well known as the lightest boot on the market for the upper made of an extremely thin, lightweight synthetic named Nike Skin. The skin was claimed to be thinner and stronger than any kangaroo leather. A special NikeFrame technology was added to the boot.

The Mercurial Vapor II was released in January 2004, available in team red and photo blue colorways. A change had made in this version different from the original Vapor. The material of Vapor II was thicker than the original Vapor; a cushioned area around the ankle with a slightly larger heel tab was added midway; and the pattern down the sides of the boot was modified to make the indentations more pronounced. This version was available in more colorways than the first one.

The Nike Mercurial Vapor III was released in 2006. And the next year, Nike released a limited edition featuring "all the modern technology from the current MVIII combined with the original Mercurial Upper design from 1998." At the next period of 2007-2008, the public came across the Mercurial SL and Mercurial Vapor IV. Both boots look the same, but difference was that the sole of the IV is made of a fibre composite instead of carbon fibre, which increase the weight to 230g, not 210g as SL.

The fifth version of MV is Mercurial Vapor Superfly and Vapor V. The Mercurial Vapor Superfly was the first boot using the Nike Flywire technology. The Mercurial Vapor VI and Mercurial Vapor Superfly II was released in February 2010, available in five colorways.

The latest version is Mercurial Vapor VII and Mercurial Vapor Superfly III. And a change was made in the form of a new graphical design on the upper, which was deigned to make the boots even more visible on the pitch.
